Hi Folks,

Here's a bit more information from Nik W8EDT about the activities on Saturday, Dec 1 involving Fox Hunting and the Orienteering associated with it.  It looks like a great time to get some field experience.  Many thanks to Nik and Ann Almstedt for heading up this event.

Best wishes,
Weldon Mathews  K8NQ

Gentlemen,

Thank you do much for offering to send this out the rest of the NARA membership.

This event is Co-sponsored by COO Central Ohio Orienteering.

Here is a summary of the event as currently planned:

We will be at Alley Park in Lancaster on Saturday December 1 2018, at the main picnic shelter. We will begin at 11AM with an antenna build session, review of ARDF theory, and some practice tuning and homing. Around 3PM we will start sending teams out for the actual fox hunt, with a goal to have the last team return around 5PM, and have the transmitters collected back in by 6PM. At 6PM begins the COO regular night-orienteering (no radios involved, just map-and-compass).

This event will be a 2M band event. For those unfamiliar with the sport of ARDF, it is a walk/run Fox Hunt using an orienteering map and orienteering rules. Unlike regular orienteering you will be given a map with only the starting and ending points marked. In addition you are given a sheet with the transmitters
