Basics -- Field Day 2021

http://www.arrl.org/field-day

Essentially, folks start gathering on Saturday morning with their stations to be set up.  NARA generally has a station on 80 meters, 40 meters, 20 meters, plus a variety of special interest.  Sometimes we have setup a "Get-On-The-Air" Station to coach new Hams.  Setup involves setting up antennas, hanging the wire antennas in the trees, and running cables, setting up equipment, etc.  Someone usually brings a network hub/switch to setup a network for common logging database. We use a Field Day logging software available at http://n3fjp.com/index.html  We operate for about 24 hours straight contacting as many States and Canadian Provinces, as we can.  Around about 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, we usually have a potluck dinner.  Someone usually volunteers to grill up some burgers and hot dogs.  We ask participants in the potluck to bring something.  By that time in the day, we sometimes need ice refreshed.  Some folks bring coolers full of water and diet pepsi.  Others bring other stuff as well.

Pictures of past Field Day events since 2003 can be found on the Gallery.  https://n8ara.org/cpg/
