W8BR

SOLD

Up for sale is a clean FT-840 from the original owner.  Purchased at Universal Radio in 2003.  It has worked many DX stations and has been used at many NARA Field Days.  If you look through our Field Day pictures you might see this gem in some pictures.  I have attached a cropped picture from 2019 Field Day.  The rig looks better than the picture.

The great thing about this radio is it's simplicity.

Universal Radio still has a web site with the specifications for this unit.  https://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/hamhf/2319.html

Operating Manual available at:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/381773/Yaesu-Ft-840.html

Service Manual available at:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/868937/Yaesu-Ft-840.html

I will sell to a licensed operator in the Coshocton/Zanesville/Mount Vernon/Newark vicinity.  I will not ship this unit.

The Radio comes with the original box, operators manual, power cord, and hand microphone.

It still works well and I had a qso today with Billy, AD4PF, in Tennessee, before I put it back in the box.  He gave me a good audio report with my hand microphone.

These radios currently sell in the range of $450 to $600.  I'll sell it for $400 cash.

Maintenance and Known issues:

- The 9V panel lamp had burned out and has been replaced with an LED lamp that is designed to operate in the 10 to 12 Volt range so it should offer long life.
- The encoder does not turn as smoothly, as it did when new, however it still works well.
- This is a older radio without audio DSP.
